FROM THE DESK OF BUBBA CRADDOCK

It is with great honor and humility that I reach out to you today. For those of you who have given me this responsibility, I thank you.  For those of you I have yet to meet, I am committed to earning your support as we face the challenges of tomorrow.

It is my intention to lead this Local along a path towards unbreakable strength and solidarity.  To achieve this level of solidarity will require us to heal.  We must heal from the damage brought onto us by a calculated and strategic attack from those who would benefit from our failure.  It is no accident that our differences are constantly highlighted and magnified under the veil of unity. Differences and division are not the same. Division does not know unity.  Division magnifies differences to create the illusion that we are so far apart that there are no bonds left to tie us together. Then they sit back and watch the show. They watch as brothers and sisters draw their boundaries of no return to the point where we ignore the fact that we seek the same outcome. We want to work to live, not live to work.  We want our voices to be heard and matter.  We want to be treated fairly. We want to be treated with dignity and respect as human beings, not as assets or liabilities.  We want the banners and slogans that surround us daily to be adhered to and acted upon not just used against us when it is conveniently relevant.  Division can NEVER satisfy these needs.

Solidarity, on the other hand, can!  Solidarity will be our new measure of success.  Solidarity alone equates to our ability to set aside our differences in the effort to achieve common goals. Solidarity sends the message to our opponents that we can move as one.  This is our most powerful leverage to cause action.

We will no longer participate in the puppet show, entertaining our enemies.  We will not pretend that we are all the same. The body is made of many parts that are nothing alike, yet they are all of value. We will respectfully move past our differences to fight for our common goals. It is in these efforts that we will build our strength.

Healing does not happen overnight.  But I ask each and every one of you to look at the big picture and you will see how we have been used against one another.  I assure you, that if we approach our challenges with that clarity, we will begin seeing favorable results to challenges that seemed insurmountable at one time.

I again thank you for this opportunity and look forward to kicking some ass together in the future!!!
